so i am fitting a Street Bob tank to a Rocker at the moment and have it slammed pretty low. Decided to notch it as its a cool look and any detail like this sets the bike apart. Its an easy thing to pull off but you do need a good TIG welder at the end.

1. So first off you fit the tank and mark out the the cut lines.

2. Flip the tank and use a 1mm or less cutting disc and slice off the notches.

3. Clean them up and then cut carbboard templates that fit the holes.

4. Draw round the templates onto some 1.5mm steel sheet, easy to then bend into place.

5. Holding the fillets down you can do a final sand with a DC to get a good fit.

Will be posting up the finished tank after welding this Sunday. We are going to purge the tank and fill it with gas prior to welding so the weld itself is fat on the inside, then will pressure test the tank before sending it off for paint,, so more later,, for now heres the pix:
