H-D recalling 6,964 Softail models which were manufactured from June 7,2010 through Oct. 8, 2010, only affects units that had the security systems kit installed as an accessory and a BCM that was improperly sealed during production, allowing water intrusion.

Harley-Davidson is recalling 6,964 Softail models from 2011 due to engine and engine cooling issues.

Harley says 6,964 Softail motorcycles are affected, which were manufactured from June 7, 2010, through Oct. 8, 2010. The recall affects only unites that had the security system kit installed as an accessory.

Harley says the body control modules (BCM) have a case that may not have been properly sealed during production; an improper seal may allow water intrusion into the BCM, which may cause the engine to stall. The BCM part numbers are 69991-11, and 69993-11.

If the engine stalls, a crash may occur, which could lead to injury or death of the rider.
